Volunteer with us: open positions on human rights activism and research

Currently available positions:

1. Legal Internships

Just Access is seeking applications from excellent undergraduates and graduates in the early stages of their careers with a strong background in international human rights law to contribute to its work.

We seek to provide our interns with the experience of working in an NGO, so each Just Access intern is likely to work on a number of assignments at the same time. These include independent research; background and policy research for reports and submissions before regional or international courts and UN mechanisms and initial drafting; assisting with project work, including developing and implementing training programs, and organising events; attending meetings with other organisations; fundraising and communications work; and administrative tasks as required.

2. Volunteer web/graphic designer:

Applicants will support the design of Just Access reports and web content

3.Volunteer translator:

Applicants will support the translation of Just Access materials from English to German and Chinese

These are unpaid volunteer positions. Interns can be based in Heidelberg or work remotely. Applicants should be able to work at Just Access for a minimum of three months. We will cover expenses for travel and lunch up to 15 Euros per day if based in Heidelberg, or expenses for lunch up to 10 Euros per day if working remotely.

How to apply:

If you would like to be considered, please send an e-mail to contact@just-access.de, with “Volunteer” in the subject line, together with

  • your CV;

  • a brief cover letter highlighting your key skills, indicating when you would be available to start, whether you would be available to work full time or part time, and confirming that you would be able to work from our Heidelberg office (if Covid-19 movement restrictions at that time permit); and

  • a short writing sample (3 pages), for example a university essay or recent work.

The application is open all year round and will be considered on a rolling basis.
